Akinasi Partridge 

Akinasi Partridge is an Inuk Mohawk visual artist with a mother from Kuujjuaq and a father from Kahnawake. She was raised in Montreal as an urban Inuk. Akinasi uses drawing and beadwork to connect with her cultures, express her experiences and identity, and share with people. She likes to represent daily life as well as experiment with folklore. “As someone who has struggled to affirm my identity, doing art as a meditative practice allows me to reconnect with parts of myself that were once hidden or taken away from me through intergenerational trauma”, she says.

Akinasi likes to do Mohawk style raised beadwork and work with pencil crayon and pen, mixing the two to celebrate her multicultural identity and pay homage to the art and craft styles of both of her respective communities.
