Niap 

Niap (Nancy Saunders) is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist from Kuujjuaq, Nunavik, whose work has been collected by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and Avataq Cultural Institute, among others. In recent years, she has taken part in several group and solo exhibitions, and her work is part of INUA, the inaugural show for Qaumajuq, the new Inuit Art Centre at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

Currently based in Montreal, Niap practices drawing, painting, sculpture, textile, throat singing, and more. Through each medium, she explores and investigates her identity as an Inuk woman, drawing inspiration from both the city and her home community of Kuujjuaq. Her work often combines traditional Inuit art and contemporary techniques, aesthetics, and approaches. She addresses themes and issues anchored in contemporary life, while still paying tribute to the creativity and ingenuity of her ancestors. As such, Niap ensures the renewal and futurity of Inuit art, showing its value and relevance to the present day.
